
Winterhawks Weekly: Portland Is Playoff Bound

With a playoff-clinching scenario within reach, the Winterhawks went north and took back-to-back victories over the Prince George Cougars to seal their spot in the Western Conference's top eight.
The Hawks became just the third WHL club to clinch after Everett and Kamloops and will now feature in an 11th consecutive WHL postseason.
Hot Hawks:
Forward James Stefan posted back-to-back three-point performances in Prince George over the weekend, and has now recorded multiple points in three straight games and in four of his last five.
Forward Gabe Klassen netted a hat trick in his 100th WHL game on Friday, then lit the lamp twice more on Saturday. Klassen has now scored multiple goals in three straight games.
Forward Tyson Kozak recorded a pair of assists on Friday, then grabbed the game-winner on Saturday for his 100th career point in the WHL.
Forward Jaydon Dureau notched six helpers over the weekend, including his second four-point outing during the month of February on Friday.
Defenseman Clay Hanus put up consecutive games with two assists last week, pushing his season total to 54 points in 52 games, good for second among WHL defensemen.

Gabe Klassen scored his second career hat trick in his 100th WHL game and Taylor Gauthier stopped 25 pucks in his return to CN Centre to help the Winterhawks top the Prince George Cougars 7-2 on Friday night.

Portland 5 at Prince George 3 (Saturday):
The Winterhawks officially clinched a playoff spot thanks to another road win in Prince George. The Winterhawks completed a clean regular-season sweep against the Cougars and have now won their last eight games against the B.C. Division opponent.

On Friday, Portland travels to top-seeded Everett for the first meeting between the clubs since Jan. 1, a thrilling 7-6 shootout win for the Hawks. Puck drop is set for 7:05 P.M. on Friday.
