
ICE Conclude Weekend with Shootout Win over Swift Current

Daniel Hauser made 21 saves through 65 minutes and closed the door on three shots during the shootout while Zach Benson scored the lone goal in the shootout to give the Winnipeg ICE a 4-3 victory over the Swift Current Broncos Sunday night.
The ICE ( 35-9-2-1) conclude their seven game road trip with a 4-3 record, moving to within six points of Edmonton for first place in the Eastern Conference standings. Winnipeg has five games in hand on the Oil Kings.
During regulation, Connor Hvidston gave the Broncos an early 1-0 lead. Matthew Savoie with his 23rd goal of the season tied it before the period expired.
Mathew Ward scored twice in the second period to give the home side a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes.
Connor McClennon's team leading 36th 10 seconds in the third period got the ICE to within one and then Chase Wheatcroft's 8th tied the game forcing overtime.
Winnipeg outshot Swift Current 30-24.
The ICE were 0/4 on the power play, the Broncos 1/3.
Winnipeg now returns to the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena for a 7:00 face off Wednesday night versus the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Tickets are available at www.winnipegICE.ca.
