Portland Winterhawks News Release

A grueling road trip drew to a close last week with games in Spokane and Seattle, and the Hawks now look ahead to a three-in-three weekend against Everett and Tri-City.

First up, a quick jaunt to suburban Seattle to battle the Silvertips on Friday at 7:00 P.M. After that, the team is back on home ice for the first time since Feb. 11 for Mascot Night against the Americans on Saturday and our annual Jack in the Box Twilight Game on Sunday against Everett once more.

Hot Hawks:

Forward Marcus Nguyen notched an assist on Friday and a shorthanded strike on Saturday, pushing his season totals to 19 goals, 17 assists and 36 points. The 18-year-old winger is on pace to surpass last year's totals in all three categories.

Forward Gabe Klassen notched his team-high 59th point of the season with an assist on Nguyen's shorthanded goal in Seattle. The Hawks' captain also leads the team with 30 goals on the year.

Defenseman Marek Alscher found twine in Spokane on Friday for his eighth goal of the season. The Florida Panthers' prospect has already established career-highs in goals (eight), assists (11) and points (19) through just 49 games.

Play of the Week:

The Hawks got off on the right foot against Seattle on Saturday as Gabe Klassen found a streaking Marcus Nguyen for an early shorthanded strike.

Weekly Rewind:

Portland 1 at Spokane 1 SO (Friday):

Marek Alscher's eighth goal of the year gave Portland life in the second period, but two Carter Streek goals and 30 Dawson Cowan saves guided Spokane to a 4-1 win on Friday.
