Winterhawks Weekly: Hawks on Home Ice this Week
April 17, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Portland Winterhawks News Release
With Games 1 and 2 of their second-round series in the books, the Winterhawks and Blazers return to the Rose City for two games this week. The Blazers hold a 2-0 advantage thus far, but the Hawks are keen to respond on home ice, with Game 3 set for Wednesday and Game 4 set for Thursday.
Hot Hawks:
Forward James Stefan tallied a hat-trick in Game 1 and leads the team with seven goals in seven games to start the postseason. After notching six points in last year's playoffs, the Laguna Beach, Calif. native has already recorded career-highs in goals and points.
Forward Robbie Fromm-Delorme set up two goals in Game 1 for his second multi-point performance of the playoffs. The Hawks' alternate captain ranks second with seven points in the postseason thus far.
Defenseman Marek Alscher also logged two helpers on Friday and boasts a pair of multi-point efforts from the blue line as well. The Florida Panthers prospect has hit his offensive stride and leads Portland's defensemen in scoring this postseason.
Play of the Week:
Chef Stef was cookin' in Kamloops with a hat-trick performance in Game 1 on Friday. But we couldn't pick just one goal for the play of the week, so enjoy all three!
