Portland, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks, proud member club of the Western Hockey League, are pleased to announce the signing of prospect Carsyn Dyck to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.

Dyck (5-10, 165 lbs.) put pen to paper with the Winterhawks after an impressive season with the Warman Wildcats U18 AAA program where he scored 35 points (16G-19A) in 44 games.

"Carsyn is a quick, two-way winger who has emerged to make a big impact on his team in Warman. We feel he has a complete game, somewhat comparable to Tyson Kozak," Assistant to the General Manager and Director of Scouting Mike Coflin said after the Hawks drafted Dyck last December.

Dyck, originally selected by the Winterhawks in the sixth round of the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft, made it all the way to the SMAAAHL championship game with Warman this past season, registering four goals and an assist in nine playoff games.

During the COVID-19 shortened 2020-21 season, Dyck captained the Wildcats U15 AA team and was second on the team with five goals and ten points in just four games. At the under-15 level, Dyck scored 19 goals and 25 assists for 44 points in 37 games.

His father Ryan is also a WHL alumnus, having played for the Moose Jaw Warriors during the 1992-93 season.

Dyck becomes the third prospect from the 2006 class to sign with the Winterhawks, joining Warman teammate Luke Brunen and Winnipeg native Cole Cairns.

The Winterhawks finished the 2021-22 regular season with 47 wins, the most among U.S. Division Clubs. Regarded as one of the nation's elite junior hockey franchises, the Winterhawks are two-time Memorial Cup Champions and three-time WHL Champions.

The Portland Winterhawks take pride in developing their players and have produced the most NHL-drafted players among WHL teams and 131 alumni have played in the NHL, including Hockey Hall of Fame members Cam Neely and Marian Hossa and recent Winterhawks stars like Seth Jarvis, Cody Glass, Seth Jones, and Ryan Johansen.
