Portland Winterhawks News Release

Mascot bragging rights are on the line Saturday, January 30 as the Portland Winterhawks host their annual Mascot Night, presented by Comcast, at the Rose Garden.

Team mascot Tom-A-Hawk is inviting all his friends to come hang out with him that night when the Winterhawks host the Seattle Thunderbirds at 7 p.m. Among the attendees will be Blaze from the Portland Trail Blazers, Butch from Washington State University, Benny The Beaver from Oregon State University, Timber Joey from the Portland Timbers, Bullwinkle J. Moose from Family Fun Center along with Darth Vader and many popular Star Wars characters. Also coming will be Tom-A-Hawk's long-time nemesis: Cool Bird from the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Those mascots and many others will be entertaining fans before the game on the concourse and in the arena bowl during the game. The main event will be the mascot hockey game taking place during the second intermission. Team captains Tom-A-Hawk and Cool Bird will be battling for mascot hockey supremacy in an entertaining game fans won't want to miss.

"Mascot night is always a hit with kids of all ages," said Portland Winterhawks President Doug Piper. "Kids will love the chance to meet all the mascots before the game, then enjoy watching them hit the ice for their always-entertaining game."

Fans will also be helping raise funds for the Oregon Conservation Network, which unites conservation groups around the state in an effort to protect Oregon's environmental heritage in the Oregon Legislature. More than 40 groups are members of OCN, which is a project of the Oregon League of Conservation Voters Education Fund.

The Jan. 30 game will also feature a new Super Chuck-A-Puck promotion. Fans can now buy pucks for $5 apiece to throw at a target on the ice during the second intermission. The fan who lands their puck closest to the target will win $1,000.

The best sports entertainment value in the northwest are Winterhawks 10+10 Packs: 10 tickets and 10 Hawk Eyes hats starting at just $12 per person. Contact the Winterhawks at 503-236-HAWK (4295) or seats@winterhawks.com for more information.
