PREVIOUS GAME - Winterhawks 2 at Silvertips 3 (Shootout): Portland increases its point streak to six straight games, but their road comeback falls one goal short in a shootout against Everett. The Hawks erased a 2-0 deficit through 40 minutes of hockey to earn one point in the standings against their northern rival.

The Everett Silvertips were rewarded with a power play shy of two minutes into the game, and they made it a 1-0 score. Silvertips captain Connor Dewar drove in a wrist shot from the right circle through a screen to take the early lead. About ten minutes later, the Silvertips scored their second power play goal of the night to make it 2-0. Bryce Kindopp located the puck lingering at the top of the crease and shoveled it in to start 2-for-2 on the man advantage.

The second period came and went without any scoring. The Winterhawks upped their productivity in the middle period, rattling off 18 shots on goal. Multiple times during the period, Portland was inches away from finding the back of the net, but Dustin Wolf shut the door each time.

In the third period, the Hawks came out of the locker room hot and heavy. Just over three minutes into the final period, Reece Newkirk caught the puck in the slot and outskated Wolf for the team's first of the night. Forty one seconds later, Ryan Hughes was given time and space on the left side circle and he fired it in to tie the game at two apiece.

With both teams earning one point, we went to overtime and saw five total shots, but the game was still tied at two through 65 minutes of play. Connor Dewar and Bryce Kindopp score in the shootout round to help Everett win 3-2 (2-1 in shootouts).

Shane Farkas put together an impressive performance, stopping a season-high 41 shots. His counterpart Wolf denied 39 of 41 in the contest.

TODAY'S OPPONENT:

Everett captured its third win against the Hawks on Wednesday night. They head to Portland for the second time this fall and prepare for a rematch against the No.2 team in the United States Division. The 'Tips are 5-1-0-0 in November, winners of their last five, and have an impressive goal differential of +15 during that stretch.

In a midweek game in which the goaltenders sparkled, the Silvertips had to rely on a strong first period of play to guide them to their 15th win of the season. Everett captain Connor Dewar was recognized as the second star of the game thanks to his fourth multi-point performance of the month. The former third round pick of the Minnesota Wild is riding an 11 game point streak (12-9-21) into the weekend, which is the second longest, current streak in the WHL.

Over the course of the Silvertips' five-game winning streak, they have outscored their opponents a whopping 11-0 in the first period of play alone.

The Hawks have scored nine goals against the Silvertips this season (from seven different players). Wednesday night was the first time the Silvertips had allowed over 30 shots on goal in the last ten games. Both goaltenders made season-high stops in the shootout finish. Portland's Shane Farkas robbed 41 of 43 on the night and Everett's Dustin Wolf made 39 saves in the win. In 20 starts this season, Wolf has only had to make 30 saves twice. Both times were against Portland.

Special teams play has severely impacted the head-to-head series in 2018-19. The Silvertips went 2-for-3 on the power play in the last meeting and are 20-for-21 overall in killing penalties against the Hawks so far this season. Cody Glass has been a play making specialist for the Hawks and currently holds a seven game assist streak entering the weekend.

The Hawks are home on November 16th for a home game against the Everett Silvertips for the Les Schwab Toy Drive. Individual tickets are now on sale. Be sure to visit winterhawks.com/tickets for full details on pricing and availability.
