Vancouver Giants News Release

Vancouver, B.C. - Keegan Iverson and Jake Gricius each scored twice to lead the Portland Winterhawks to a 5-1 win over the Vancouver Giants on Wednesday night at the Langley Events Centre. Matt Barberis had Vancouver's only goal while Ryan Kubic made 51 saves in the Giants' net.

Iverson opened the scoring with a power play goal in the first period, tipping a Caleb Jones point shot past Kubic from the top of the crease.

Gricius extended the lead in the middle frame off a nice setup by Ilijah Colina, and Iverson added another power play marker before the second intermission.

Barberis put the G-Men on the board, knocking home a rebound on a Vancouver man advantage, but Matt Revel added an empty netter, and Gricius scored his second of the night on a breakaway in the final minute.

Portland out shot Vancouver 56-18. The G-Men went 1-for-3 on the power play while the Winterhawks were 3-for-5.

The two teams will meet again on Friday night in Portland at 7:00pm.

Vancouver's next home game will be on Tuesday, March 14th, when the Victoria Royals visit the Langley Events Centre for Don Cherry Night! For tickets, click here or call 604.4.GIANTS (604.444.2687).
