Portland Winterhawks News Release

The Portland Winterhawks have made a trade with the Victoria Royals in which Portland acquires two eighth round selections in the 2013 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft in exchange for the rights to defenseman Troy Stecher, a player on the team's protected list. Teams are permitted to trade list players after the WHL trade deadline.

The picks acquired from the Royals are Victoria's own eighth round pick and an eighth round pick they had received in a previous deal with the Vancouver Giants.

The Hawks selected Stecher in the seventh round of the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft, 149th overall. He currently plays for the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League.

Group ticket packages for the remainder of the regular season and 2013 WHL Playoffs are now available. Contact the Winterhawks today at 236-HAWK or email seats@winterhawks.com for details.
