DASH OUTLAST P-NATS 4-2 IN EXTRAS

For the second time this season, the Dash pulled out an extra-inning win on the road, outlasting the Potomac Nationals 4-2 in 11 innings on Saturday night at Pfitzner Stadium. With the game tied at two in the 11th inning, the Dash took the lead on a defensive miscue. With Zach Remillard on second with nobody out, Luis Basabe laid down a bunt single. On the play, Nationals reliever Jeremy McKinney made an errant throw to first that sailed over the first baseman David Masters' head, allowing Remillard to come around to score. Later in the frame, Basabe crossed home on a wild pitch from Taylor Guilbeau. Mike Morrison picked up his fourth victory of the year, tossing two scoreless innings across the ninth and 10th frames, and Yelmison Peralta locked down his first save of the season with a scoreless 11th inning.

WE LIKE FREE BASEBALL

Thanks to Saturday's victory, the Dash are now 4-1 in extra-inning contests this season, with their one loss coming against Salem on April 22. Here's a look at each contest they have won in extras, along with deciding play:

4/12 vs. CAR - 3-2 win in 10 innings: Joel Booker steals home

4/14 vs. CAR - 6-5 win in 10 innings: Booker walk-off suicide squeeze bunt

5/9 at SAL - 10-8 win in 10 innings: Blake Rutherford go-ahead three-run homer

5/26 at POT - 4-2 win in 11 innings: Go-ahead run scores on McKinney's errant throw

SOMETHING TO ALWAYS COUNT ON

Amid the chaos of Winston-Salem's 4-2 win, Dash starter Bernardo Flores logged his seventh quality start of the year, going six innings and allowing five hits and two runs while tying a career-high with eight strikeouts. Flores currently leads the Carolina League with 55.2 innings pitched. Amazingly, the former USC Trojan has yet to go less than five innings in any of his nine starts this season. Overall, the southpaw is 3-3 with a 2.91 ERA this year. Flores was a seventh-round pick by the White Sox in 2016.

NICE TO SEE YOU, POTOMAC

Sunday marks the third game of a four-game set at Pfitzner Stadium and the third meeting between the Dash and the Nationals this season. Overall, Winston-Salem and Potomac will square off against one another just seven times in 2018, which is the second-fewest games against an opponent this year. The only team the Dash play less this year is Lynchburg (six games). The P-Nats currently lead the Carolina League in several offensive categories, including runs (247), hits (446), slugging percentage (.428) and on-base percentage (.361).

QUALITY STUFF ALL AROUND

Sporting the third-best ERA in the circuit at 3.70, the Dash have received a quality start from each of their last four starting rotations members:

LHP Tanner Banks (5/23 vs. BC): 7.0IP, 4H, 1R, 4K; second straight win

RHP Dylan Cease (5/24 vs. BC): 7.1IP (CH), 4H, 1H, 9K; sixth win on the year

RHP Luis Martinez (5/25 at POT): 6IP, 2H, 0R, 2BB, 3K; longest outing at the High-A level

LHP Bernardo Flores (5/26 at POT): 6IP, 5H, 2R, 8K; seventh quality start

JIMMY'S TURN ON SUNDAY

Right-hander Jimmy Lambert takes the hill for Winston-Salem on Sunday. A fifth-round pick by the White Sox in 2016, Lambert has logged six innings in each of his last four starts. During that span, the former Fresno State Bulldog is 2-2 with a 3.38 ERA. After adding 15 pounds of muscle in the offseason, Lambert has seen an uptick in his strikeout total. In 37.2 innings pitched, the righty has struck out 44 batters, good for a 10.5 K/9 ration. By comparison, Lambert had a 7.0 K/9 mark in 14 starts with the Dash last year.

DASH DOTS

Dash alumnus Eloy Jimenez, who is the top prospect in the White Sox system, blasted a go-ahead grand slam in the ninth inning for the Barons at Jackson on Saturday in their 8-5 win.
