WINSTON-SALEM DASH (18-21) vs. POTOMAC NATIONALS (22-18)

RHP Ryan Buch (first start) vs. RHP Blake Schwartz (3-1, 0.82 ERA)

7 p.m. - BB&T Ballpark (Winston-Salem, NC)

BIRDS EMPHATICALLY FLY PAST DASH The first-place Myrtle Beach Pelicans cruised past the Dash 12-3 Thursday night in the rubber match of a three-game series at BB&T Ballpark. The Pelicans plated runs in five different innings and banged out 18 hits, while all four Dash hurlers surrendered at least one run. Six Myrtle Beach swingers recorded multi-hit nights, and Luis Sardinas (4-for-5, 5 RBIs) led the way. The loss extended the Dash's Southern Division deficit to 7.5 games and sent Winston three games under .500, which matches a season low.

BB&T BALLPARK REACHES ONE MILLION The Dash celebrated the one millionth fan in BB&T Ballpark history Thursday night. Since the ballpark opened on April 13, 2010, a total of 1,004,042 fans have attended a Dash game at BB&T Ballpark. To celebrate, the Dash let one lucky fan (Alisa Keegan) play a game of chance on the field following the bottom of the seventh inning for one of three prizes: one million dollars, a two-year lease on a $30,000 vehicle from Flow Companies or two Dash tickets for life. She ended up going home with the Dash tickets.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AT BB&T BALLPARK When BB&T Ballpark surpassed the one million mark yesterday, it became the quickest facility in Advanced Class-A baseball history to reach this milestone. The Dash pace all 30 High-A franchises in attendance since 2010. Winston-Salem led the way in 2010 and 2011 before finishing second to Frederick a year ago in total attendance. Since BB&T Ballpark opened its gates, the Dash own the best home mark in full-season Minor League Baseball (143-87, .622), despite a 9-10 mark in the Triad thus far in 2013.

DESERVING A BETTER FATE Righty Chris Beck suffered his sixth loss in eight start Thursday night. Beck leads the circuit in this unfortunate stat despite an earned run average of 2.80, which paces the Dash and is eighth in the CL among qualifiers. Winston has only mustered 23 total runs in his eight starts.

LAST TIME AGAINST POTOMAC The Dash and P-Nats squared off in a four-game set last Friday through Monday, and Potomac earned a three-out-of-four series take. Winston-Salem avoided its first four-game series sweep since June of 2008 with a 7-0 victory in the finale. The Nationals walked off with a win in the opener thanks to a Jason Martinson solo shot before cruising to 7-2 and 7-1 triumphs in the second and third games, respectively.

HEISLER'S ON-BASE STREAK Dating back to last season, Winston-Salem outfielder Adam Heisler has reached base in 39 straight games, which is the second-longest current streak in Minor League Baseball. Jamal Austin of High Desert (High-A, Seattle) has reached safely in 47 straight contests dating back to late last season. Heisler, who had missed the previous three contests with an injury, returned to the lineup Thursday and reached twice thanks to a seventh-inning walk and a ninth-frame single.

MORE ON THE STREAK Heisler reached in his final three games of 2012 while with rookie-level Great Falls before finding his way on base in all 36 games this year (19 with Low-A Kannapolis and 17 with Winston-Salem). Heisler has hit safely in 30 of these 39 games, during which he owns a .298 average (45-for-151) with 16 RBIs and 27 runs scored.

THIS ISN'T HOCKEY When Max Peterson tossed a pair of scoreless innings Tuesday to preserve a three-run victory, the Dash earned their first save since Cody Winiarski notched one at Wilmington on April 28. Despite this 13-game drought, the Dash still pace the circuit with 12 saves. In its first 23 games, Winston-Salem played in a league-leading 13 one- or two-run games (57%). Since then, however, only three of the Dash's last 16 games have been decided by two runs or less (16%). Overall this season, Winston is 4-3 in one-run contests but just 3-6 in two-run affairs.
