WINSTON-SALEM DASH (24-21, 54-60) at POTOMAC NATIONALS (24-18, 62-49)

RHP James Dykstra (2-0, 2.70 ERA) vs. LHP Matt Spann (7-5, 4.65 ERA)

7:05 p.m. - Pfitzner Stadium (Woodbridge, Va.) Game #115 (Road Game #56)

POTOMAC HOLDS OFF WINSTON-SALEM In a series opener Tuesday night at Pfitzner Stadium, the Potomac Nationals scored three in the third and never looked back in a 6-2 decision against the Dash. Isaac Ballou's two-run triple in the third inning pushed the P-Nats on top, and they added one more in that frame, a single tally in the fifth and a pair of unearned runs in the sixth. Winston-Salem pushed two runs across in the seventh, but the Dash left the bases loaded in the inning and never mustered another legitimate rally. Dash starter J.B. Wendelken gave up four runs over four and two-thirds frames, while his counterpart Brian Rauh blanked the Dash over a season-high six innings.

A SMALL OBSTACLE Despite Tuesday's loss, the Dash are still in the midst of their best stretch of baseball in 2014. Winston-Salem has won seven of its last nine games for the first time since the club claimed 10 consecutive contests from August 19-29, 2013. Winston has owned at least a share of the Southern Division lead over the last five days, the team's longest such streak since the final 32 games of 2012 (July 31-September 3).

DOUBLE DeMICHELE For the first time in his Minor League career, infielder Joey DeMichele is heading to Double-A Birmingham, the White Sox announced on Wednesday. DeMichele logged 239 games with the Dash since the start of the 2013 season. He hit a combined .254 with 12 homers and 96 RBIs in High-A. This year, DeMichele was a .264 hitter with four homers and 42 RBIs. He leaves with BB&T Ballpark's only walk-off grand slam (August 24, 2013) and the Dash-era record for runs in one game (5 - April 27, 2014).

W's AGAINST THE P-NATS Even though the club dropped Tuesday's tilt, Winston-Salem is 69-49 (.585) against Potomac since the nickname change in 2009. Winston has won or tied the season set against the P-Nats in every season since becoming the Dash.

WALKER RIDING HIGH Dash outfielder Keenyn Walker collected three hits, which ties a season high, in Tuesday's loss. He has strung together consecutive multi-hit games for the second time in 48 games since his assignment from Double-A. Before these two streaks, the first of which took place July 8-9, the Salt Lake City, Utah, native had not put together a two-game multi-hit streak since July 26-27, 2012, during his first stint in Winston-Salem. Walker has hit safely in his last five games, and he is hitting .421 (8-for-19) during this surge.

RODON TO START THURSDAY Carlos Rodon, the third overall pick in June's MLB Draft, is scheduled to make his first High-A start on Thursday afternoon in Potomac. The former NC State star made his Dash debut last Wednesday and gave up two runs in an inning of relief. He followed that effort up with two shutout frames out of the bullpen on Sunday. Thursday will mark Rodon's second professional start after a two-inning outing with the Arizona League White Sox on July 26 against the AZL Marlins (1 R-ER, 2 H, 4 K, 0 BB). (Additional information on Rodon is available on page 9 of the attachment)

LEADING THE WAY Dash outfielders Courtney Hawkins (71) and Jason Coats (67) represent the top two active RBI leaders in the CL. Jorge Alfaro, who was promoted from Myrtle Beach to Double-A Frisco on Monday, paces the circuit with 73, with Hawkins standing in second place. Coats follows only Alfaro, Hawkins and Michael Burgess (68), who climbed from Frederick to Double-A Bowie last month. Hawkins (17, 2nd) and Coats (14, 5th) are also in the top five in the CL in homers.

DASH DOTS In his first game above rookie ball, Jake Peter went 1-for-4 with a run scored as the Dash's second baseman...Peter was hitting .388 with Great Falls before his promotion Tuesday...With two more Tuesday, the Dash added to their Minor League-leading unearned runs total (134).
