WINSTON SWEEPS P-NATS

Sporting their Rayados jerseys for the final time in 2018, Winston-Salem defeated Potomac 6-3 to complete a series sweep of the Nationals on Sunday afternoon at BB&T Ballpark. With the game tied at three in the bottom of the fifth inning, Ti'Quan Forbes put the Dash ahead with a two-run single to center against Nick Raquet. Daniel Gonzalez capped the scoring in the sixth with a solo shot to left field, his first blast of the season. On the bump, John Parke logged his fourth win of the season by allowing three runs in five innings, and Blake Hickman, Danny Dopico and Hunter Schryver combined to toss four scoreless frames to seal the win.

THEY STILL GOT IT

Thanks to their 5-0 homestand, the Dash still rank first in the Carolina League in runs (600), hits (1,070), doubles (226), triples (39) and RBIs (563). Meanwhile, the ballclub ranks second in the league in batting average (.274) and on-base percentage (.344). On the mound, Winston-Salem ranks third in the circuit in ERA (3.55) and fourth in the league with 945 strikeouts.

AWARD-WINNING PERFORMANCES

Dash outfielder Luis Gonzalez and left-hander Kyle Kubat have been named Carolina League Player and Pitcher of the Week for August 6-12, respectively. Gonzalez went 7-for-17 across five games during the week, smacking three doubles and two home runs. Meanwhile, Kubat tossed a career-high seven innings on August 7 against Myrtle Beach and allowed no runs.

HOLY PROSPECTS

CHASING HISTORY

With 22 games left in the regular season, Winston-Salem has an opportunity to clinch the best record in the Dash era (2009-present). The best mark in the franchise's history was set in 2012 when the Dash went 87-51-1. To surpass that mark, Winston-Salem will need to go 16-6 or better the rest of the way. The 2012 team included current big leaguers such as Yolmer Sanchez, Chris Bassitt and Marcus Semien.

A POSSIBLE PLAYOFF PREVIEW

The Dash kick off a three-game set against the Buies Creek Astros at Jim Perry Stadium on Tuesday. Despite Winston-Salem's two-game lead over Buies Creek, the Astros are up six games on Carolina for a playoff spot due to the Dash's first-half championship. Winston-Salem is currently 8-6 against its Southern Division foe. The Astros are led by their strong pitching staff, which leads the Carolina League in ERA (3.06) and strikeouts (1,076).

DASH DOTS

The Dash have four of the top 10 leaders in batting average in the circuit - Blake Rutherford (4th; .306), Yermin Mercedes (5th; .299), Mitch Roman (7th; .292) and Gavin Sheets (8th; .287).
