BROOKINGS - The Aberdeen Wings made the most of their power play opportunities and skated to a 7-2 NorthAmerican Hockey Leaguevictory over Brookings on Thursday.
The Wings converted on three of five chances in thegame, including two in the third period four minutes apart.
Aberdeen had a strong start, with three first-period goals. Justin Parizek's power-play goal got the Wings off and running halfway through the period. Brookings tied the game two minutes later on Justin Moody's goal and Erik Baskin put the Wings ahead to stay two minutes later with the first of his two goals.
The Wings scored six consecutive goals, taking a 7-1 lead after Tyler Cisar put in goal with 14:07 left. Aberdeen goalie Zach Nagelvoort faced 33 shots, making 31 saves. The Blizzard had a 33-28 advantage in shots on goal.
Cisar, Jonathan Grebosky and Tanner Holmquist each had a goal and an assist. Steven Johnson assisted on two goals. The Wings return to Aberdeen to host Minot tonight at the Odde Ice Center. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
