Eagles sweep Jr. K-Wings, extend lead in North The Soo Eagles swept a series against the Jr. K-Wings in Kalamazoo, to extend their lead in the NAHL's North Division.

Here is a recap of last weekend's action.

Soo Eagles 4, Kalamazoo 1 - March 3, 2013

The Soo Eagles and Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings played their last game of the season against each other on Sunday afternoon, and it was the stellar goaltending by Tyler Marble that propelled Soo to the 4-1 win. The Eagles wasted no time picking right up where they left off in Saturday's victory, as they scored the game's first goal just 1:10 into the contest. Michael Lant worked his way into the left circle and fired a backhander into the back of the net to put the Jr. K-Wings down one goal. Sean Murphy put Soo on the board again to extend the lead to 2-0 with a rocket shot from the slot. Kyle Gattelaro cut the deficit to 2-1 at 7:24 in the third, but that would would be as close as the K-Wings would come to tying the game up. With less than 30 seconds remaining, the Eagles got a pair of empty net goals from Jared VanWormer and Brandon Adams to seal the 4-1 victory. You can see the box score here.

Soo Eagles 3, Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings 1- March 2, 2013

The Soo Eagles faced the potential of falling out first-place, for the first time in months on Saturday afternoon, stress potential. Tyler Marble made 36 saves as the Eagles gave themselves a little breathing room at the top of the North Division standings with a 3-1 win in Kalamazoo on Saturday. Sean Murphy scored two of the three Eagles goals, which both came in the 3rd period. Alex Robert had the other Soo goal, which came on the power play in the 1st period. Mike Fazio scored the lone Kalamazoo goal, which came with an extra attacker late in the 3rd period. You can see the box score here.

The Soo Eagles are proud to announce the try-out camp schedule for the 2013-2014 North American Hockey League season. The first camp will be held May 17-19 at the Big Bear Arena, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

There will also be a try-out camp in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 31 - June 2. Additional camps for the 2013-14 NAHL season, will be announced soon.

The Eagles are committed to find those players who have a passion for hockey and wish to pursue the highest level of hockey possible. We are looking for players who place a premium on character on and off the ice. The Eagles have the finest Billet and Education coordinator along with Coach Bruno Bragagnolo, who has compiled a 127-39-12 record in three years in SSM including a NOJHL Championship in 2010/11. Coach Bragagnolo has moved several players to higher levels and has a network of college coaches he is in contact with throughout the year. The Soo Eagles are anticipating several openings for their roster next year. The Eagles camps are designed so players can show the coaches and scouts their respective skills. There will be at least three games guaranteed and then a chance to be selected for the Sunday All-star game. The Eagles will have their main camp in August for those boys who would be invited back. With the NAHL draft on June 3rd, this is a wonderful opportunity to show the staff your skill level prior to the draft.

All players will get three full games. All Soo Eagles coaching and scouting staff will be in attendance to closely watch all players. The cost of the camp for players born 1993-1997 is $250.00 USD. Preferred method of payment is Pay Pal, but checks and cash will be accepted (follow instructions after submitting form). Refunds will be available, up to 30 days before the start of camp.
