Aberdeen Wings News Release

Last week, the Wings won all three games against divisional opponents the Minot Minotauros and the Brookings Blizzard. Friday night, the Wings were back on their home ice against state rivals the Brookings Blizzard.

In the first period, at the 8:51 mark the Wings got on the board with a goal from #27 Erik Baskin (F-Minnetonka, MN). The assists were credited to #24 Jonathan Grebosky (F-Pittsburgh, PA) and #10 Tanner Okeson (D-Roseau, MN). The period would end with the Wings up 1-0.

Throughout the second period, the Wings would pepper the Blizzard goaltender outshooting Brookings 15-4. But none of the 15 shots would go into the net.

The third period would prove to be the game changer. It would all start with Brookings getting a power play goal less than a minute into the period from Brandon Parker. That would tie it up 1-1, but the Wings would get another. At the 5:16 mark, #15 Jordan Heller (F-Bemidji, MN) would skate up the right side of the ice and score for the Wings with an assist from #8 Drew Doyon (F-Indianapolis, IN). Just a few minutes later, the Wings would take a 3-1 lead thanks to Wings forward #8 Drew Doyon with assists from #18 Austin Swingle (F-Sartell, MN) and #22 Zach Doerring (F-Chanhassen, MN). 25 seconds later, Wings forward #11 TJ Roo (F-Coon Rapids, MN) would score thanks to an assist from #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI). But the Wings were not done there, up 4-1 they would find the back of the net again this time off the stick of #24 Jonathan Grebosky with assists from #27 Erik Baskin and #3 Daniel Billett (D-Highlands Ranch, CO). Nope, not over yet. With 1:06 remaining, Wings forward #8 Drew Doyon would score his second goal of the game with assists from #17 Davis DeKorte (F-Dewitt, MI) and #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson (F-Reykjavik, Iceland).

The Wings would win 6-1 outshooting the Blizzard 35-18. A big thank you to the 1,424 Wings fans that attended the game.
