Wings Weekend Preview
February 26, 2016 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Aberdeen Wings News Release
The Aberdeen Wings (17-19-9) will hit the road this weekend to face off against the NAHL Central Division leading (Tied with Minot) Bismarck Bobcats (28-15-1) at the VFW Sports Center in Bismarck North Dakota. The Wings will look to improve and continue to climb the Central division standings. The Bobcats are unblemished in the 8 meetings with the Wings so far this season, but with the confidence of a 3 game winning streak including a sweep of the Austin Bruins last weekend at the Odde has the Wings looking at the playoffs, with of course the understanding that there is still just over a month left in the regular season.
While the Titan Machinery Dakota Cup will be staying in Bismarck over the summer, that doesn't mean the Wings are walking into the VFW with their heads hanging. The Wings have taken 2 of the last 3 games vs. the Bobcats into overtime. Aberdeen will look toward Peter Thome to continue to be consistent in net, while improving on his .930 Save Percentage and 2.39 goals against average. While looking for offense from a mixture of vets and "rooks". Tucker DeYoung continues to lead the way for the Wings with 32 points, 11 goals & 21 assists. But Carter Roo is sneaking up on him with 25 points, 7 goals & 18 assists. But it has been the return of two other vets that has the Wings confidence back as Matt Pulver, who after sitting out the first half of the season has come on strong as of late with 16 points, 6 goals & 10 assists in only 18 games played. Austin Heakins has shined vs the Bobcats, in only 5 games against since re-joining the Wings Heakins has 2 goals & an assists.
All of the action this weekend can be heard on 94.1 FM THE ROCK, watched at fasthockey.com or stop down to the Aberdeen Ramkota for the viewing party! Puck drops at 7:15 both nights. Don't forget to make your plans to meet the Wings Monday night at Qdoba in Aberdeen for a meet and greet autograph and picture party from 7:15-8:30pm!
