January 14, 2009 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release

The Philadelphia Wings' Sean Thomson was named the NLL's Rookie of the Week for his performance in the team's 16-13 victory in Rochester last Saturday night. Thomson recorded three goals on just four shots and was the team's second leading goal scorer in the contest. Thomson and the Wings (1-1) will look to build on the momentum of their first victory when they open their home schedule at the Wachovia Center on Friday, January 23 versus the expansion Boston Blazers (0-1).

"Sean has settled in nicely to the NLL style of play," said Wings' Head Coach Dave Huntley. "I think his performance against Rochester is an indicator of what we can expect from his for the rest of the year."

The 6'2", 220 pound forward was the Wings' top draft choice (ninth overall) in this year's NLL Entry Draft. Thomson, a native of Oakville, ON, won the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Championship as a member of the Guelph University Griffins in addition to being named the 2008 Burlington Male Athlete of the Year.

The Wings will open their home schedule at the Wachovia Center on January 23 at 8 p.m. when they take on the expansion Boston Blazers.
