(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks General Manager Regy Thorpe announced today that the team has activated veteran defenseman Marshall Abrams and released forward Brock Boyle. The moves are pending league approval.

"Getting Marshall back into our lineup will surely help our back door. He's a big, aggressive, smart player that was surely missed our first game," said Thorpe. "We are really excited to get him in for Friday night's game in Buffalo and for the remainder of the season. I know the players, fans and organization are all excited to see him out on the turf."

Abrams (Onondaga Nation) enters his ninth season of pro lacrosse and his eighth as a Knighthawk in 2009. In 2008, he played in all 16 games and collected five assists and 66 loose balls. In 2007, he won his first NLL championship as a member of the Knighthawks.

Internationally, the defenseman was an alternate captain for the Iroquois Nationals at the 2007 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship and won a silver medal at the 2003 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship.

Abrams played his college lacrosse at Syracuse University (1997-2000) and was a three-time All-American. In 2000, he was named the Defenseman of the Year. In addition, he was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team in 1999 and 2000. He also was a member of the 2000 Division I NCAA National Champion Orangemen.
