Aberdeen Wings News Release
The Aberdeen Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are pleased to announce the signing of Defenseman Nick Leitner to a tender agreement for the 2016-2017 season. Â The Bemidji, MN native is the second player signed to a tender by the Wings for 16-17, and will join his brother Jake next season, who is currently in his rookie campaign in Aberdeen. Â The younger Leitner checks in at 5'11, 175 pounds.
"Nick is a strong, athletic Defenseman who skates hard and competes to keep the puck out of his net while also creating offense for his team," Assistant Coach / Director of Scouting Mike Grattan said. Â "We think Nick has great upside and we look forward to coaching him in the future."
Leitner just wrapped a 19 game Minnesota High School Elite League season with Team Great Plains. Â He tallied 6 points in the regular season and put up 2 goals and 1 assist in 3 playoff games. Â He will now begin his high school season with Bemidji High School, a program that has also produced former Wings Jordan Heller and Dillon Eichstadt.
