Wings Take 3-0 Lead, Blowout Colts

SAN ANGELO - For the second straight game, the WhiteWings turned a close game into a blowout, as the WhiteWings won 12-4, taking a 3-0 lead over the San Angelo Colts in the South Division Championship Series.

With the WhiteWings holding onto a 5-3 lead going into the seventh inning, the WhiteWings scored seven runs to take a 12-3 lead and put the game out of reach.

The WhiteWings had seven hits in the inning in the big seventh inning, including two homeruns and two doubles. Five of the seven runs scored were with two outs.

On the night, 10 of the 12 WhiteWings' runs were scored with two outs while the Colts stranded 12 runners on base as they left the bases loaded twice.

David Cross (1-0, 4.15 ERA) gets the win for the WhiteWings while Logan Williamson (0-1, 9.00 ERA) is charged with the loss.

With the WhiteWings up 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Colts had the go-ahead run at the plate and Daryl Jones in the batters box, who led the league in homeruns with 28. Yet Jones struck out swinging to end the threat.

The WhiteWings in the next half inning proceeded to put seven runs on the board as they took a close game and turned it into a blowout, taking a 12-3 lead.

It wasn't the best start for the WhiteWings and starting pitcher David Cross as Ronnie Gaines homered on the first pitch, putting the Colts on top 1-0. Yet the Colts had to wait until the 5th inning before their next base hit as that was their only lead of the game.

The WhiteWings can sweep the best-of-seven series tomorrow night as they play game four on Friday night at 7:05 PM. Julio Castro is expected to take the mound for the WhiteWings.
