Wings Rush To Reacquire Spano From Edmonton

July 20, 2005 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release

The Philadelphia Wings reacquired fifth-year defenseman Jeff Spano less than a week after he was chosen by the Edmonton Rush in the ninth round (18th overall) in the National Lacrosse League expansion draft.

Spano, a Malvern, PA native, re-joined the Wings in a three-way trade with the Edmonton Rush and the Minnesota Swarm. Edmonton traded Spano, defenseman Damien Davis, and their first pick in the 2007 Entry Draft to Minnesota in exchange for forward Kerry Susheski, defenseman Teddy Jenner, and their third round pick in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft. Minnesota then traded Spano and their first round pick in the 2005 Entry Draft to Philadelphia for forward Peter Morgan and defenseman Pat Jones. Morgan and Jones were both acquired by the Wings in the NLL dispersal draft, which was held earlier today. All trades are still pending league approval.

"Jeff is a huge asset to our organization," said Wings General Manager and Head Coach Lindsay Sanderson. "In addition to the tremendous energy he brings to our team, he's also been a big fan favorite. We're thrilled to get him back on our roster so quickly."

Spano acquired 69 points (19G, 50A) and recovered 259 loose balls in four seasons with the Wings. The Drexel University graduate was signed as a free agent by Philadelphia prior to the 2002 season.
