
Minnesota Swarm slects Defenseman Bruce Murray and Forward Ryan Powell in Aneheim Dispersal Draft

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Swarm general manager Marty O'Neill announced today that the National Lacrosse League (NLL) team selected defenseman Bruce Murray with the fourth pick and forward Ryan Powell with the 15th pick in the Anaheim Dispersal Draft. The Anaheim franchise suspended operations following the 2005 season. To make room for Murray and Powell on its 23-man roster, the Swarm released defenseman Shawn Summerfield and goalie Mike Attwood.
"Bruce is going to step in and play immediately on our backend," said O'Neill. "We are excited to add his experience and physical presence to our lineup."
Murray, 28 (6/22/77), recorded four assists in 16 games with the Anaheim Storm in 2005. He ranked first on the team with 83 loose balls and 34 penalty minutes. The 6-1, 235-pound defenseman spent his first three NLL seasons (2002-04) playing for Vancouver totaling 18 points (2-16=18), 97 penalty minutes and 151 loose balls in 39 games. The Coquitlam, British Columbia-native also appeared in two playoff games with Vancouver.
Powell, 27 (2/23/78), tallied 46 points (15-31=46) and 76 loose balls in 16 games with Anaheim in 2005. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MINNESOTA SWARM ANNOUNCES THREE TRADES
SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Swarm general manager Marty O'Neill today announced the following trades following the Anaheim Dispersal Draft:
¨ Minnesota acquired D Jeff Spano, D Damien Davis and the Edmonton Rush's first round selection in the 2007 Entry Draft in exchange for F Kerry Susheski, D Teddy Jenner and the Swarm's third round selection in the 2005 Entry Draft.
¨ Minnesota acquired F Peter Morgan and D Pat Jones from the Philadelphia Wings in exchange for D Jeff Spano and the Swarm's first round selection in the 2005 Entry Draft.
¨ Minnesota acquired D Brock Boyle, the Portland LumberJax's third round selection in the 2005 Entry Draft and first round selection in the 2006 Entry Draft in exchange for D Pat Jones, D Damien Davis, F Ryan Powell and F Peter Morgan.
Boyle, 23 (6/14/82), collected 12 points (9-3=12) and 44 loose balls in 15 games with Minnesota during the 2005 season. He led team defensemen in goals with nine and ranked tied for sixth in the league in goals by a defensemen. Boyle was selected by Portland with the third pick in the 2005 NLL Expansion Draft on July 13.
