Rochester Red Wings News Release

The Rochester Red Wings pitching staff continues to look impressive as RHP Scott Elarton and three relievers combined to shutout the Durham Bulls, Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, 3-0, Friday afternoon in Port Charlotte, Fla.

The Wings, after posting back-to-back shutouts, improve to 3-0 on their spring training slate.

Elarton, who signed as a free-agent in the offseason after spending all of 2012 with Lehigh Valley, allowed just two hits and a walk over three scoreless frames while striking out four.

LHP Mike O'Connor (2 ip, 0 h, 3 k), LHP Caleb Thielbar (2 ip, h, k) and RHP Bruce Pugh (2 ip, h, 3 k) combined to complete the shutout for Rochester.

The bulk of the offense came from catcher Josmil Pinto for a second consecutive day. The 23-year-old who already has seven years of professional baseball under his belt in the Twins system, went 2-for-3 with a two-run double. He is now 4-for-7 with a home run, two doubles and six RBI over his last two games.

Outfielder Evan Bigley, who played in 39 games with the Wings last season, knocked in the other run for Rochester.

Centerfielder Antoan Richardson and infielder Doug Bernier each had a pair of hits for the Wings.

Rochester will look to improve to 4-0 this spring on Saturday when they host the Norfolk Tides at 1:05 p.m. at the Lee County Sports Complex in Ft. Myers, Fla.
