Aberdeen Wings News Release
The Aberdeen Wings looked to continue their streak Friday night in Brookings as they took on the Blizzard. The Wings got off to a quick start in what was a very physical period. Jordan Heller got the scoring started with a quick turn around shot that beat the Brookings goaltender to the short side. Assisting on the Heller goal were Peter Krieger and Justin Parizek. Four penalties were assessed in the 1st period including a game misconduct on Cody Marooney for checking from behind.
The 2nd period the Blizzard came out in full force as they were able to dictate the pace of the game using their physical play. 15 total penalties were called in the 2nd period and Brooking was able to use that momentum to capitalize and score 2 unanswered goals to send the teams into the 2nd intermission with Aberdeen trailing 2-1. The 3rd was a similar story as Brooking was able to get the majority of the chances and were able to add an empty net goal to end the Wings winning streak at 8 games with a 3-1 loss. The Wings will close out their season Saturday night at the Odde Ice Center when they take on Brookings. Plan on sticking around for the Wings Red Jersey Auction which will follow the game.
