The Dallas Wings (0-5) face the Atlanta Dream (1-5) Saturday evening at 7 p.m. in a rematch of the season's opening game played back on April 24. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest Plus. Located outside of Gate 4 of College Park Center, the Wings will host its second Block Party of the season starting at 5 p.m.
Falling just short against the Indiana Fever last night, this will be just the third home game that Dallas has played so far this season. At home the Wings are holding its opponents to 73.0 points per game, the fourth best home advantage in the WNBA. The Wings have had multiple players put up career marks just five games into a young WNBA season. Kayla Thornton turned it on against Indiana, dropping a career-high 19 points on a career best six-of-17 shooting. Thornton also set career standards in three-points made, going three-for-seven from the three-point line. The UTEP product also pulled down seven rebounds and went a perfect four-of-four from the charity stripe. Theresa Plaisance also record a new career best against the Indiana Fever when she dished out four assists. The LSU product also scored 12 points, her first double-digit game of the season and the first since August 12 of last season. Wings newcomer Imani McGee-Stafford topped her season-high of 10 points that she tallied against Washington with 12 points against the Fever. This is just the third time in her career that the University of Texas graduate has had back-to-back games with double-digit scoring figures.
Since topping the Wings by four on April 24, the Dream have not won a game. Third-year player Brittney Sykes is Atlanta's leading scorer at a clip of 12.0 points a game, recording more than 10 points in every game this season except one. Jessica Breland leads the team on the glass, averaging seven rebounds a game, 6.2 of them coming on the defensive side of the court.
