
'Wings doomed by rough middle innings

Alexandria, LA - The Alexandria Aces (34-23) scored four runs in the fourth inning, three in the fifth, three in the sixth and one in the seventh to beat the Harlingen WhiteWings (17-37) 11-9 tonight at Bringhurst Field.
The WhiteWings got on the board in the fourth against Robbie Wooley (1-1). Ryan Fox led off with an infield single and moved to second on a passed ball. One out later, Matt Kramer hit an RBI-double. Kramer moved to third on a groundout. Catcher Eddie Fitzpatrick tried to pickoff Kramer, but the through sailed into leftfield, allowing Kramer to score, making it 2-0.
The Aces responded in the bottom of the frame against Bryan Herrera. Andre Marshall led off with a single. Madison Edwards and Jose Umbria drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. Fitzpatrick cleared the bases with a three-run double. He moved to third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-2.
In the fifth, David Cardona and Brian Nichols led off with singles. Ryan Fox followed with a three-run home run to make it 5-4. It was Fox's tenth home run of the season, and his third-straight game with a homer.
The Aces again responded in the bottom of the inning. Palmer Karr Jr. led off with a double to knock out Herrera. Justin Staatz (0-1) came in and gave up a single to Rafael Ozuna and an RBI-single to Marshall. One batter later Umbria hit a two-run double to make it 7-5 Aces.
In the sixth, Albert Gonzalez led off with a single, Selwyn Langaigne singled and Karr walked. Ozuna hit a three-run double to make it 10-5.
In the seventh, Langaigne hit a one-out single against Daly. Karr followed with a double, and one out later, Marshall hit an RBI-single to make it 11-5.
In the ninth, Wayne Hedden issued a one-out walk to Fox. With two outs, he walked Kramer, Joel Gonzalez, and David Fowler to force in a run. Amadeo Zazueta followed with a three-run double.
The WhiteWings and Aces play game four of this five-game series as the series shifts to Harlingen Field tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Left-hander Jorge Lugo (3-2) will face left-hander Alexis Sosa (6-2).
