March 28, 2015 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Aberdeen Wings News Release
The Aberdeen Wings were on the road Friday night taking on the Minnesota Magicians in their final series of the 2014-2015 regular season.
In the first period, the Wings laid 14 shots on goal, but couldn't get one past the Magicians' goaltender Ahrens. At the 5:42 mark in the first, the Magicians would get one past Wings goaltender #35 Andrew Shortridge (G-Eagle River, AK).
In the second period on the penalty kill, a tipped pass by the Wings would find #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI) giving the assist to a goal for #22 Colin Raver (F-Bartlett, IL). The short-handed goal would tie things up 1-1. Later in the period, at the 16:47 mark, the Magicians would get one to sneak by for a 2-1 lead. The Magicians would hold off some offensive attacks from the Wings. But much of third would be based around a 2 minute time period in which some pushing and shoving after the whistle would see Magicians' Christensen skate into the play and deliver a cheap shot on Wings defenseman #6 Michael Heidkamp (D-Marietta, GA) getting the tempers to drop the gloves. Just a couple minutes later, again a late hit and pushing from the Magicians would see Wings defenseman #2 Ryan Cook dropping the gloves with Magicians' Connor Bucsis, as Cook would deliver some huge left hooks taking him to the ice. Bucsis would be assessed the game misconduct for the dirty hit.
The game would end in a loss for the Wings, 2-1. Wings goaltender #35 Andrew Shortridge stopped 22 of 24 shots.
