Wenatchee Wild News Release
The Wild are looking to end their season on a very strong streak, and with their 3-1 over Topeka tonight, they have most certainly gotten on the right start for that goal. Just as in years past, Wenatchee will be going into the playoffs as one of the strongest contenders, and with this series, the roster is already battening down the hatches. In front of 2,894 fans, the Wild proved that they are ready for any challenge they will be up against. Jake Ahlgren, Michael Bullion, and Stevie Bryant took home the 3 Stars of the Game and Coach Littler stated, "Nice win tonight. Big challenge tomorrow. I'm excited to see how we respond."
JB Baker started the scoring game off for the RoadRunners one minute and fifty three seconds into the first period, but along with Will Scherer's assist, this would be the only Topeka point scored during this match. Stevie Bryant ended the frame tying the game in Wenatchee's favor five minutes and fifty five seconds after the initial puck drop. Bryant was fed the puck by Jacob Hamacher and Tyler Rockwell.
Chris Jones gave the Wild the 2-1 lead with his point six minutes into the second period. Jake Ahlgren and Donovan Ott provided the assistance for the lone goal of this period.
The last goal of the game was netted by Jake Ahlgren eight minutes into the third period when he was successfully set up by Brendan Harris and Ott. Ahlgren's goal would give Wenatchee their 3-1 victory.
Wenatchee recorded 29 total shots on goal and 5 penalties. Infractions were called out on Chris Jones (Fighting (Major)) (Fighting (Misconduct)), Ryan Gotelaere (Slashing), Brendan Harris (Tripping), and Donovan Ott (High Sticking).
Michael Bullion was guarding the Wild's cage for the entire 60 minutes and was able to save 23 shots on goal out of 24.
The Wild and the RoadRunners will be back at it for Game Two tomorrow, March 28th, with a puck drop of 7:05 pm PST. Game Three (the Wild's final regular season game) will begin at 5:05 pm PST on March 29th!
