Wings Announce Two More Tenders
December 14, 2015 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Aberdeen Wings News Release
The Aberdeen Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are pleased to announce that forward Cade Gleekel and defenseman Drew Meininger have been signed to tender agreements for the 2016-2017 season.
The 6'1, 195 pound Gleekel hails from Minneapolis, MN, and is enjoying a solid start to the 2015-2016 campaign for Benilde St. Margaret's HS. Through 6 games, Gleekel has tallied 7 goals and 8 assists, for 15 points, which is currently one point shy of the team lead. The 97 birth year center also put up 15 points in 21 games as a member of Team Northeast in the Upper Midwest High School Elite Hockey League this past fall.
"Cade is an intelligent, hard skating forward with good size, strength and hockey sense," Assistant Coach / Director of Scouting Mike Grattan said. "He uses both his frame and his brain to come up with the puck."
Meininger signs his tender while presently playing in his first season as a member of the Detroit Honeybaked U18 AAA hockey team. The 98 born Defenseman hails from Bloomfield Hills, MI and played two games as an affiliate player for the Wings earlier this month in a road series at Austin.
"Drew is a competitive, athletic defenseman who plays a two-way game," Grattan said. "He prides himself on being hard to play against."
Grattan also mentioned that both players have a sense of familiarity with the Wings.
"Meininger obviously played games with us a few weeks ago, but both Drew and Cade attended our Main Camp this past July," Grattan explained. "They heard Coach Anzalone's presentation about how we believe in doing things, they competed in front of our staff and they are both off to good starts this season, doing what they do, playing the way they each play. We look forward to watching them continue on their development path."
