December 14, 2015 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Philadelphia Rebels News Release
Kennett Square native Michael Merulla was named the North American Hockey League's East Division Player of Week for week ending December 13.
Since joining the team in October and having played in only 16 games, Merulla has 10 goals and a total of 18 points. He is second on the team in goals scored.
This past weekend against Johnstown Merulla had four goals including a natural hat trick on Saturday night. "Mike has just gotten better and better since we got him in late October. We believe we are just scratching the surface with his overall ability. We look forward to more weekends like this past one," said Rebels head coach Joe Coombs.
Teammate Ryan Cusin was named honorable mentioned for East Division Player of the Week, which are sponsored by Easton Hockey. Cusin had three points this past weekend - an assist on a Merulla goal on Friday night - and two assists on Saturday night, one of which was on Merulla's first goal.
Ironically, the awards were reversed for week ending November 24 where Cusin was named Player of the Week and Merulla was named honorable mentioned.
