Wings Announce Protected List For Expansion Draft

The Philadelphia Wings indoor lacrosse team announced their protected list for the 2004 National Lacrosse League Expansion Draft. The draft, which will provide the new Minnesota team with their initial roster, is due to take place later this month.

The Wings' protected list includes goaltenders Dallas Eliuk and Nick Schroeder; forwards Keith Cromwell, Dan Marohl, Spencer Martin, Tom Marechek, Jeff Ratcliffe, Brian Tower and Ryan Ward; and defensemen Andrew Guindon, Thomas Hajek, and Andrew Martin.

"We wanted to be strategic about who we placed on our protected list," said Wings' President Russ Cline. "Our list allows us to protect the maximum amount of players allowed by the league, but not all of our key players names are on the list. Our decision making was based on who we think the expansion team will select."

Each NLL team had the option of protecting either ten runners and two goaltenders or 13 runners and one goaltender. Minnesota will select one unprotected player from each team, making a total of ten selections. No team will lose more than one player.
