Dallas Rattlers News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks of the National Lacrosse League and the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse will be well represented at the 2004 Heritage Cup on Saturday, October 16th in Denver.

The game will be held at Pepsi Center at 9:00 p.m. EST and will feature National Lacrosse League stars, including Knighthawks John Grant, Pat O'Toole, Regy Thorpe and Rattler Ryan Powell. Grant and Thorpe, who are also members of the Rattlers, will play for opposite sides as Grant plays for Team Canada and Thorpe will suit up for Team USA. O'Toole will join Grant, and Powell will play for the U.S.

In addition, the K-Hawks will have a presence on the coaching staff, as Assistant Coach Ed Comeau will work on the Team Canada coaching staff. Team Canada is coached by Toronto's Les Bartley, with Walt Christianson, Comeau and Bob McMahon serving as the assistants. Team USA is coached by Tony Resch. Jimmy Rogers and Mammoth coach Jamie Batley will serve as the assistant coaches.

In Heritage Cup history the series stands tied 1-1. Team USA beat Canada 21-16 in the inaugural Heritage Cup match in 2002, but lost to the Canadians the following year.

Team USA is led by San Jose Stealth star Mike Regan and Brian Langtry of the Colorado Mammoth. The Americans also have Ryan Powell on the roster. This summer, Powell led the Rattlers in scoring with 59 points (33+26) in 12 games and was named to the All-MLL Team.

Mammoth superstar Gary Gait will lead a Canadian squad that includes Buffalo's John Tavares and Toronto's Jim Veltman, Colin Doyle and Blaine Manning. In addition, Team Canada boasts Calgary's Tracey Kelusky and Taylor Wray from the NLL defending champion Roughnecks.

Grant and O'Toole should also play a prominent role for the Canadians. The duo is coming off a Mann Cup title this summer with the Peterborough Lakers. Grant was named the series MVP.

The game will air on Altitude Sports and Entertainment on a tape delay at midnight eastern time. Tickets for the Heritage Cup start at $5.00 and are now on sale. Tickets are available at the Pepsi Center box office, by phone at 303.830.TIXS, online at Ticketmaster.com and at all Ticketmaster outlets.
