
Wings 2008 Schedule Features Eastern Division Opponents

The Philadelphia Wings open the 2008 season on Saturday, January 12, against the Buffalo Bandits at the Wachovia Center at 7:30 p.m. This will be the first time since 2000 that the Wings have opened the season at home.
The Wings will play eight different opponents during their eight-game home schedule, including seven against opponents from the newly expanded Eastern Division. The Wings will play four Friday night and four Saturday night home games at Wachovia Center this season. Home opponents include the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, January 12 at 7:30; the Rochester Knighthawks on Friday January 18 at 8 p.m.; the Minnesota Swarm on Saturday, January 26 at 7:30 p.m.; the Chicago Shamrox on Friday, February 15 at 8 p.m.; the Toronto Rock on Friday, February 22 at 8 p.m.; the New York Titans on Saturday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m.; the unnamed Boston franchise on Friday, March 14 at 8 p.m.; and their only home non-divisional game against the San Jose Stealth on Saturday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m.
"We are very excited about this year's home schedule," said Wings Owner and President Russ Cline. "The four Friday and four Saturday night home schedule is a good mix and opening at home is a real plus. We have a full slate of tough Eastern Division opponents this season and will see some fantastic match-ups."
Highlighting the Wings 2008 season is 2007 first-round draft pick Merrick Thomson and recently acquired All Pro defenseman Taylor Wray. Thomson and Wray are joined by veteran forward Jake Bergey, who returns for his 11th NLL season.
