
National Lacrosse League announces 2008 regular season schedule

The National Lacrosse League, North America's professional indoor lacrosse league, has announced the schedule for the 2008 regular season. Opening night is on Saturday, December 27th as the New York Titans host the Chicago Shamrox at Madison Square Garden, 8pm ET. The second game of the season-opening weekend shifts to the west, as the Colorado Mammoth host the Portland LumberJax at 9pm ET.
Some of the other early highlights include the defending league champion Rochester Knighthawks opening their home schedule on January 12th against Chicago. The expansion Boston franchise opens on the road at Edmonton on January 12th, before hosting their inaugural home game at TD Banknorth Garden on January 19th against New York. On January 26th the Rochester Knighthawks will host the Arizona Sting at Blue Cross Arena in a rematch of the 2007 NLL Championship Game.
All eyes will be on Edmonton on the weekend March 15th - 16th as the hometown Rush host the Rochester Knighthawks on Saturday, March 15th, followed by the 2008 NLL All-Star Game on Sunday, March 16th. The contest between Rochester and Edmonton will mark the first ever meeting between the two clubs as Edmonton General Manager and Head Coach Paul Day faces his former club for the first time.
Each of the league's 14 teams will play 16 games (eight home & eight away) over 17 weekends from December 27th - April 19th, followed by the 2008 Champion's Cup Playoffs. All times below are listed as Eastern.
