Wingnuts Drop Rubber Game to Saltdogs

LINCOLN, NE- The Wichita Wingnuts lost 7-3 to the Lincoln Saltdogs at Haymarket Park on Wednesday night.

Lincoln hit three home runs in the game, beginning with a two-run shot from Brandon Jones to left field bottom of the second to give the Saltdogs a 2-1 lead. Juan Camacho hit a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the third to extend the lead to 4-1.

Cesar Suarez lined a two-out single to left-center in the top of the fourth to score Carlos Rivera from second to pull the Wingnuts within two, but Juan Richardson hit a two-run home run to left in the bottom of the third to make it 6-2 in favor of Lincoln.

The Wingnuts added a run in the sixth on an RBI groundout from Jorge Delgado. Lincoln tacked on their final run in the eighth on a solo home run from Camacho.

Kevin Angelle took the loss for the Wingnuts, allowing six earned runs in 4.2 IP. Angelle was signed before the game after the Wingnuts traded J.R. Boling to the United League.

Delgado had two hits and has hit safely in 10 straight games. Sean Teague worked 3.1 strong innings of long relief, allowing just the home run to Camacho. Wichita left nine runners on base in the loss.

The Wingnuts return home on Saturday for the first time since July 25th when they open a three-game series against the division-leading Sioux Falls Pheasants.
