Sioux City 19, St. Paul 6 (Game 1)

After rain halted play during the bottom of the fifth last night with the score 9-4, Sioux City scored ten unanswered runs following a pair of St. Paul solo shots to rout the Saints 19-6. Recently acquired 1B Jacob Cruz went 3-for-4 and drove in five runs for the Explorers out of the cleanup spot, but the real story was the bottom of the order, as the final four Sioux City hitters combined to go 9-19 with ten runs scored and seven RBI. C Ray Serrano blasted a two-run homer in the top of the eighth as part of a 2-for-5 day. RHP Mike Phelps picked up the win with four innings of relief when play resumed, and was flawless outside of the two home runs and a walk, striking out six Saints during his outing. RF Chad Gabriel and 1B Jason Cooper launched St. Paul's home runs, and each added two hits and two runs scored in the loss, combining to drive in five of the team's six runs.

St. Paul 9, Sioux City 5 (Game 2)

1B Jason Cooper went 4-for-4 and scored a run in each of his plate appearances for St. Paul, as they topped Sioux City 9-5 to break even on the day. 3B Brent Krause went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and RBI for the Saints, and LHP Matt Meyer earned a save for allowing one walk while striking out four in two hitless innings of relief. The Explorers were held to just six hits in Game 2, with two each coming from 2B Derek Schermerhorn and C Matt Kramer.

Fort Worth 20, Pensacola 10

In a game with a score that looks more appropriate for football than baseball, the Cats reached base 25 times to secure a 20-10 victory. RF Kevin Thompson launched a three-run homer as part of a six-run third inning before the Cats' offense exploded for nine in the sixth. Thompson drove in five runs on the night and added a double and walk. C Kelley Gulledge went 4-for-6 with a pair of doubles and two RBI, and LF Kennard Bibbs, CF Brian Fryer, and 3B Jose Duran knocked in three runs each. 2B Kyle Brown went 3-for-4 and drove in two in the Pelicans' losing effort.

Grand Prairie 8, El Paso 5

El Paso dropped its 12th straight as Grand Prairie took an 8-5 victory. CF Robert Perry went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI from atop Grand Prairie's lineup, and 2B Antoin Gray added a key two-run single in the top of the sixth. DH Kyle Nichols had three hits in the loss for El Paso, and 2B Hector Bernal drove in two. LHP Daniel Schmidt improved to 3-4 on the season for his 5.1 innings of work.

Lincoln 7, Wichita 3

3B Juan Richardson fell a triple short of the cycle and drove in two as the Saltdogs overcame the Wingnuts 7-3. 1B Juan Camacho launched his 11th home run of the year as part of a 3-for-4 three RBI night. 2B Brandon Jones started off the scoring with a two-run blast in the bottom of the second, his ninth. RF Jorge Cortes went yard for the Wingnuts in the loss.

Shreveport-Bossier 5, Sioux Falls 4

An RBI infield single from 3B Andres Rodriguez put Shreveport-Bossier ahead for good in the bottom of the eighth as they topped Sioux Falls 5-4. 1B Chris Garcia had a perfect night at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two walks and three RBI for the Captains. Starting pitcher Richard Salazar struck out eight over seven strong innings for Shreveport-Bossier, but the win went to RHP Jameson Maj, who pitched the eighth. LF Beau Torbert went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a home run for the Pheasants, driving in two runs.
