Rockford, Ill. - Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Thursday that right wing Ben Smith has signed an amateur try-out agreement with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

Smith, 21, completed his senior season at Boston College, winning the 2010 National Championship. The former sixth-round pick (#169 overall) by the Blackhawks was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Frozen Four Tournament with four points (3g-1a) in two games.

Smith finished the 2009-10 campaign with 37 points (16g-21a) in 42 games for the Golden Eagles. In four years with Boston College, Smith racked up 122 points (57g-65a) in 165 games.

Next Home Game: Wednesday, April 21 vs. Texas Stars. Game Three of the West Division Semifinals. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The West Division Semi's shift north as the IceHogs and Stars return to Rockford for Game Three of the Calder Cup Playoff's opening round at the MetroCentre.

Rockford, Ill. - The Rockford IceHogs, along with Pepsi, have announced a Calder Cup Playoff promotion for the IceHogs upcoming West Division Semifinal series against the Texas Stars.

Fans will have an opportunity to sign-up to win one of three grand prizes, including the Ultimate Fan Pack. There will also be 20 runner-up winners that will receive a pair of West Division Semifinals tickets to either Game 3 or 4 of the IceHogs best-of-seven series with the Stars.

The three grand prize winners of the Ultimate Fan Pack will receive an executive suite for either Game 3 or 4 of the IceHogs West Division Semifinals (up to 25 tickets), a DVD box set-Chicago Blackhawks: Great Moments and Classic Games, courtesy of Warner Brothers Home Video and other prizes from the IceHogs, Pepsi and Frito Lay.

The IceHogs open the West Division Semifinals on Friday, April 16 at Texas with Game 1. After Game 2 in Texas on Saturday, the IceHogs and Stars will play Game 3 at the Rockford MetroCentre on Wednesday, April 21 at 7:05 p.m. followed by Game 4 on Friday, April 23, also at 7:05 p.m. All road Calder Cup Playoff games will be shown live at Hooters of Rockford.
