Wiley Leads Dragons to 10-5 Win

Fort Wayne, Indiana-Byron Wiley belted a two-run home run and Jordan Wideman added a solo shot as the Dayton Dragons topped the Fort Wayne TinCaps 10-5 on Friday night. The win lifted the Dragons record to 6-3 and gave them a split of their six-game road trip. Fort Wayne fell to 5-4 with the loss.

Wiley reached base four times, drove in three runs, and scored twice to lead a nine-hit Dragons attack. He added a single, walk, and was hit by a pitch to go along with his second home run of the season.

Chris Richburg added two hits and two runs batted in for Dayton, who battled back from an early 3-0 deficit to take the lead for good with five runs in the third inning. All nine batters in the Dayton order had a hit or walk in the game.

Dragons starting pitcher J.C. Sulbaran (1-0) worked the first five innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs with three walks and two strikeouts to earn the win. It was the first time this season that a Dragons starting pitcher was involved in the decision.

Henry Rodriguez went 1 for 5, collecting a ninth inning ground run double, to extend his hitting streak to nine straight games.

Dayton returns to Fifth Third Field to begin a six-game homestand on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. against the South Bend Silver Hawks. The series with South Bend continues Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and Monday at 7:00 p.m. before West Michigan comes to town for three games. Jacob Johnson (0-0, 9.00) will start on Saturday for Dayton against South Bend's Dan Taylor (0-1, 5.40). South Bend is 0-9 so far in 2010.
