Cedar Rapids, IA - Justin Bour doubled twice and drove in five runs to pace the Peoria Chiefs to a 7-4 victory Friday night over the Cedar Rapids Kernels. The win snaps a two-game losing streak and gives the Chiefs a 4-5 roadtrip heading into Saturday's home opener against the Burlington Bees at 1:00 p.m. The Chiefs came out swinging against Kernels starter Orangel Arenas and scored three runs in the top of the first. Hak-Ju Lee singled to right and stole second before Jose Valdez reached on an infield single to shortstop. Matt Cerda drew a walk to load the bases and Justin Bour made it 2-0 with a double off the base of the left-field wall. With runners on second and third Jovan Rosa hit a grounder to third and Michael Wing threw wildly to first allowing Cerda to score for a 3-0 Chiefs lead. Richard Jones grounded to first and Casey Hearther threw out Bour at the plate for the first out of the inning. That seemed to calm down Arenas as he struck out Alvaro Ramirez and retired George Matheus on a grounder to finally end the inning. The Chiefs immediately took advantage of another Cedar Rapids error and added to their lead in the top of the fifth. Jesus Morelli reached on an infield single and was sacrificed to second by Lee. Cerda reached on an error by Haerther to prolong the inning and Bour took advantage with another two-run double off the left-field wall for a 5-1 lead. Peoria added to their lead in the top of the seventh thanks to two errors by Segura at second base. With one out Valdez singled and stole second before Cerda grounded to second. Segura bobbled to ball as both runners moved up and Valdez scored when Segura threw wildly to third base for his second error on the same play. The Chiefs added a in the ninth against David Carpenter. Lee singled up the middle with one out and moved to second on a single by Valdez. Cerda drew a walk to load the bases and Bour picked up his fifth RBI of the night with a four-pitch walk to make it 7-1. Carpenter recovered to strike out both Rosa and Jones to leave the bases loaded. Cedar Rapids rallied in the bottom of the ninth against Corey Martin. Long and Segura started with back-to-back walks and two wild pitches scored Long to cut the lead to 7-2. A rbi groundout made it 7-3 and Wing singled home Randal Grichuk for a 7-4 game.
