TinCaps Among Top 5 Lineups To Watch

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The TinCaps' young batting lineup is among the Top 5 "lineups to watch- in Minor League Baseball in 2010 according to Baseball America.

Three of BA's top 15 prospects in the Padres' organization are in the TinCaps' starting lineup on a nightly basis. All three are teenagers. OF Everett Williams is rated the No. 8 prospect, INF Edinson Rincon checks in at No. 9 and OF Rymer Liriano is ranked 14th in San Diego's system.

Williams and Liriano delivered walk-off hits in back-to-back games, Wednesday and Thursday against the Dayton Dragons. Williams stroked a game-winning single in the bottom of the 12th on Wednesday, then followed with a 3-for-5 performance on Thursday.

INF Nate Freiman was also mentioned in Baseball America's lineup rankings; the 6-foot-8 first baseman has launched a pair of tape-measure home runs during the first two homestands at Parkview Field.

The list of Top 5 lineups is headed up by the Sacramento River Cats (Triple-A Oakland A's), who feature OF Michael Taylor and INF Chris Carter, two of the top prospects in baseball. The Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A Boston Red Sox) are second with promising INFs Lars Anderson and Jose Iglesias as headliners, the Mets' Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo check in third and the Akron Aeros (Double-A Cleveland Indians) placed fourth, boasting a pair of first-round draft selections in INFs Lonnie Chisenhall and Beau Mills.

The TinCaps finish a three-game series against Dayton (Class-A Cincinnati Reds) tonight at Parkview Field at 7:05 p.m.
