South Georgia Wildcats News Release

South Georgia Wildcats QB Darnell Kennedy's single game record 10th touchdown pass of the night gave the Wildcats a 70-66 lead over the Kentucky Horsemen with 29 seconds left Saturday night in Albany, Georgia. On the Horsemen's ensuing offensive possession, the Wildcats defense would put the nail in the coffin as DE Courtney Young sacked Kentucky QB Jared Lorenzen in the endzone for a South Georgia safety that gave the Wildcats a 72-66 win.

Kentucky DB Matt Forbes interception of Kennedy returned to the Wildcats 4 yard line at the end of 3rd quarter had the Horsemen in prime position to take a two score lead at the start of the 4th quarter but it would not come to fruition as Horsemen QB Justin Rascati fumbled a snap in the redzone which the Wildcats recovered and turned into a South Georgia game tying touchdown.

South Georgia QB Darnell Kennedy ended his record setting night completing 60.9% of passes for 374 yards and 10 touchdown passes. Kentucky Horsemen QB Jared Lorenzen played brilliantly in defeat completing 57.1% of passes for 224 yards and 6 touchdowns in defeat.

South Georgia's Alvance Robinson led all receivers with 9 receptions for 183 yards and 5 touchdowns. Kentucky was paced by Harry Lewis who hauled in 9 passes of his own for 120 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Horsemen.

With the win South Georgia improves to 6-2 on the season as they prepare to head on the road next week, May 16th at 8:00pm EST for their first ever meeting with Quad City Steemwheelers. Kentucky falls to 3-3 with the loss and will host the Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings next week at 7:00pm EST at Rupp Arena.
