Moncton Wildcats News Release
MONCTON N.B. - The Wildcats captured the win over division rivals, the Saint John Sea Dogs tonight in front of 4472 fans at the Moncton Coliseum!
Moncton gave the hometown fans a lot to cheer about tonight as they put on a dominant performance throughout. In the final minutes of the opening frame Jeremy McKenna was brought down in front of the Saint John net and awarded a penalty shot; making no mistake he found the back of the net to give the Cats some early momentum and the lead!
Saint John would end up responding in the second frame with two quick goals. The first came on the power play by Matthew Highmore, and the second was courtesy of Jakub Zboril. Julian Galloway would end up replacing Matt Waite in nets during the second period after leaving for medical attention. However, before the end of the second Moncton tied things up thanks to Kelly Klima; his 11th of the season on a feed from Wiederer and Askew.
With chances both ways in the third, time would end up running out with the score still at 2-2. This game would head to overtime, and then an eventual shootout! Following the first two rounds of shooters it remained scoreless after attempts by Cam Askew and Manuel Wiederer for Moncton, and Mathieu Joseph and Spencer Small for Saint John. In the third round Matthew Highmore was stopped by Galloway, giving Moncton another chance for the win. Kelly Klima was the final shooter for Moncton tonight and made no mistake, burying the game winning goal! Final score tonight: 3-2 for your Moncton Wildcats!
Our next home game is Thursday November 24th vs. the Shawinigan Cataractes at 7:00 p.m. It is also our Pucks N' Paws game, for more information or tickets please call us at 858-2233!
