SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs have recalled defenceman Ian Smallwood from the Woodstock Slammers of the Maritime Hockey League (MHL).

Smallwood, 17, has one goal and six points in twenty games in his first season with Woodstock.

The native of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, was originally selected by the Sea Dogs in the ninth round (159th overall) of the 2015 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft. He posted one assist in eleven games for Saint John last year while playing most of the season with the Saint John Vito's of the New Brunswick/PEI Major Midget Hockey League (NBPEIMMHL). He also recorded one helper in four preseason games with the Sea Dogs this year.

Smallwood is scheduled to be available to play when the Sea Dogs take on the Moncton Wildcats today at 4 p.m. at the Moncton Coliseum.
