Wildcats to open training camp on Friday

ALBANY, GA- The South Georgia Wildcats will kickoff their quest for the ArenaCup when training camp begins on Friday, March 18, 2005.

Wildcats head coach Chris Siegfried enters his fourth season with the Wildcats. Last season, Siegfried guided the Wildcats to a 12-4 record and a third straight appearance in the playoffs. Offensive/Defensive line coach Travis Crusenberry returns from last season's coaching staff and Defensive Coordinator Troy Biladeau rejoins the Wildcats after serving two seasons with the ‘Cats during the 2002 and 2003 season.

Siegfried will bring a roster of 35 players into training camp. Among the veterans are quarterback Bryan Snyder, led the Wildcats to an Atlantic Division championship in 2003, WR/DB Adrian Cockfield, has complied 36 touchdowns in two seasons with the Columbus Wardogs, WR/DB Leo FenceRoy, played for the Chicago Rush (AFL) in 2004 and OL/DL Jason Perry, a five-year veteran in the af2.

Among the newcomers the Wildcats have added are WR/DB Antwone Savage, finished his college career at Oklahoma with 157 receptions for 2,009-yards and 13 touchdowns, WR/DB Damien Gary, was a three year letterman for the Georgia Bulldogs and OL/DL Antwan Brown, totaled 97 tackles and 13 sacks in four seasons at Pikeville College.

Teams are permitted to bring 35 players into training camp. On the third day of camp teams will be required to cut their roster to 30 players. Teams will then have to cut their roster to 21 players (final roster) on March 28.

The Wildcats are entering their fourth season in the arena football league and their first in Albany, Georgia. The Wildcats will kickoff the 2005 season against in-state rival Macon Knights on April 9th at the Albany Civic Center. Wildcats season tickets are now on sale starting at just $70.
