Arkansas Diamonds News Release
(North Little Rock, AR) â The Arkansas Twisters announced four-time team most valuable player Lennie Johnson is joining the Twisters coaching staff as an assistant to Head Coach Gary Anderson.
Johnson's duties as assistant coach will include coaching special teams, coaching the receivers, and helping with the offensive preparations on game day.
Johnson is one of the most popular and respected players in Twisters history, and he ranks at or near the top in several offensive and defensive categories. Johnson is the all-time team leaders in receptions, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, all-purpose yards, interceptions, kickoff returns, and kickoffs returned for touchdowns. He's been named af2 Ironman of the Week six times in his career, and he's tied with Kevin Williams as the only Twisters players to score six touchdowns in a game.
The former Arkansas State standout played just one game last season because of a knee injury suffered in the '03 season. By signing on as assistant coach, Johnson will be unable to compete as a player for the upcoming season.
Twisters' season tickets are on sale now, and fans can order by calling 975-KICK.
