Memphis Xplorers News Release
Southaven, MS-The Memphis Xplorers of the af2 will open practice to the public this Saturday at 5:30pm at the Pyramid Arena in downtown Memphis. The Pyramid is the site of the first week of the 2005 Xplorers Training Camp.
This practice will feature a game simulated experience, including drills and plays. Fans and media will have their first look at the 2005 squad, which includes the Xplorers three all-af2 members from last year's playoff team. Memphis has also added a wide variety of rookie talent from top tier NCAA schools throughout the nation.
"Training camp is one of my favorite times of the year," stated Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto. "I finally get to meet a lot of these guys in person, and see what they bring to the table. Having an open practice for the Memphis community gives us the opportunity to show them our product. I would encourage everyone to come check us out."
Nate Yoder, the Xplorers General Manager, added his thoughts on opening the gates to the Memphis area fans. "A lot of the downtown and midtown residents have never been to an Xplorers game or seen what we do. This open practice will give those football fans some free football and hopefully encourage them to make the short trip to Southaven next month."
Fans interested in attending the open practice should enter through the south side entrance of the Pyramid.
The Xplorers were ten game winners in their 2004 playoff season. Memphis' home opener is scheduled for Friday April 15th at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. For group and season ticket information call 662-393-3761. Memphis Xplorers Arena Football! Back in Black!
