Wildcats Receive the 3rd Overall Selection in this Year

MONCTON N.B. - After the revealing of the draft lottery results this afternoon from Quebec City, the Moncton Wildcats hold the third overall in this summer's 2017 QMJHL Entry Draft.

"There have only been three times in Wildcats history that we have selected in the top three, so we are grateful for the opportunity," said Director of Hockey Operations, Roger Shannon. We have a great group of young guys on the team already, and we look forward to adding add more highly skilled players to our team with all of our high draft picks this year."

Along with the third overall selection this year, Moncton also holds 10 other picks in the top five rounds of this year's draft, as well as a top pick in the CHL Import Draft. This will mark the first time since 2008 that we will select twice in the first round, as we also hold the 16th overall selection.

"We would like to take this time to acknowledge the fans and their tremendous support; not only through the tough season we had, but for the past 21 years of Wildcats hockey here in Moncton," said Director of Business Operations, Ryan Jenner. "They have supported our vision and understand the process it takes to build a championship contending team. We are so excited to walk across the stage this summer in Saint John, and have the fans there to share in this special day with us. We will be sending fan busses down to the draft, there is currently a pre-sale on for season ticket member for a cost of $20 until April 19th, then we will open the offer up to the general public for the cost of $25!"
