Moncton Wildcats News Release
MONCTON N.B. - The Moncton Wildcats opened their three game Quebec road trip tonight in Rimouski. After blanking the Océanic 5-0 last week in Moncton, the Cats were looking to continue their streak; however, they were not able to capture the win tonight in this high scoring match on the road.
Liam Murphy opened the scoring at 5:11 of the first to give the Cats some early momentum in the game, but it wouldn't be long before Rimouski would respond. Hunter Moreau and Samuel Laberge added first period goals for Rimouski to give them a 2-1 lead after the first 20 minutes, and from then on the home team would continue to grow their lead.
The second period would prove to be extraordinarily busy with a total of nine goals registered; six for Rimouski and three for Moncton. The Océanic goals went to Alexandre Grisé, Denis Mikhnin (2), Daniel Hardie, and Samuel Laberge would record two more for the hat trick. Liam Murphy added his second of the night for the Cats, along with Cam Askew who scored a pair of goals in the second frame to bring the two period total to 8-4 for Rimouski.
Both teams would go onto score twice in the third, Tyler Boland and Denis Mikhnin recorded goals for Rimouski. While Kelly Klima recorded his second of the season, and Manuel Wiederer notched his four of the year on a shorthanded effort in the dying minutes. The final score tonight would end at 10-6 Rimouski.
