Wildcats Edged in Home Opener

MONCTON - The Moncton Wildcats welcomed fans back to the Coliseum tonight for their 2015-2016 home opener against the Charlottetown Islanders. Not only did tonight mark our home opening game, but it was also the kick-off to our 20th Anniversary season!

Moncton took the lead early in the game with the Klima's both scoring in the opening period. Kelly's goal came at 14:19 of the opening frame, with Liam Murphy and Max Glassl recoding the assists. Less than a minute later, brother Kevin made it 2-0 for the Cats; Adam Holwell and Kelly Klima adding the assists.

Three minutes into the second period Kelly Klima was back on the board with his second goal of the night, and the lone assist came courtesy of Kevin Klima. After that, Charlottetown scored three in the second to tie the game. Nine minutes into the third Charlottetown added another goal, giving them the lead which would end up holding till the end of the game. Final score of the night was 4-3 for the Charlottetown Islanders.

Zachary Fortin was in nets tonight, finishing with 26 saves. First and second stars went to the Klima's; Kelly was chosen as second, and Kevin as third.

The Wildcats now hold a 2-1 record so far in the season. The team is back on the ice Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Coliseum as they take on the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
